——Longgupo Cultural Site

The Longgupo site is the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council in 1996. The Longgupo site is an ancient human fossil and Paleolithic remains, which is the earliest ancient human site in East Asia so far. From 1985 to 1986, experts from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chongqing Natural History Museum successively excavated here, and found a fragment of a broken mandible with two teeth and a fossil of an incisor, as well as dozens of fossils related to humans. Mammal fossils at the same level, human fossils are 2.2 million years old. This major discovery fills the gap of early human fossils in my country, and has extremely important scientific value for human origin and biostratigraphic research in southern my country.

——Daxi Cultural Site

The Daxi Cultural Site is located at the east entrance of Qutang Gorge, and Daxi Village, Daxi Town, on the bank of the wide valley of the Daning River. It is one of the birthplaces of ancient civilizations in the Yangtze River Basin in my country. It is one of the famous ancient cultural sites of primitive society in China from the embryonic stage of the patrilineal clan. Guo Moruo called it "Daxi Culture". In 2001, it was selected as one of the "Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries in China in the 20th Century".
