The hand-waving dance is a traditional dance of the Tujia people with a long history. The small wave is called "Sevbax (Sheba)" or "Sevbaxbax (Sheba)" in Tujia language; the big wave is called Yevtixhhex (Yetihei) in Tujia language. The hand-waving dance is a large-scale dance epic in which Tujia people remember their ancestors, recall the hardships of national migration, and reproduce the tranquility of rural life. The costumes and props also contain cultural elements of their own nation.
